The keynote this morning by [Guy Kawasaki](http:\/\/blog.guykawasaki.com\/) was excellent.<\/p>\n<p>The Art of Innovation<\/p>\n<p>1. Make meaning<br \/>\nMake good things, end bad things. Make people more productive.<\/p>\n<p>2. Make mantra<br \/>\nGuiding light that always stays consistent. 2 or 3 words. NOT a mission statement.<br \/>\nWendy&#8217;s Healthy Fast Food<br \/>\nNike Authentic Athletic Performance<br \/>\nFedEx Peace of Mind<br \/>\n&#8220;Mission statements are bullshit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>3. Jump to the next curve<br \/>\nNo ice harvester became an ice maker, no ice maker became a refridgerator company.<\/p>\n<p>4. Role the DICEE<br \/>\nD Depth Great products grow with you.<br \/>\nI Inteligent Three different sizes of batteris<br \/>\nC Complete Pre sales, Sales, Atersales<br \/>\nE Elegant Nano<br \/>\nE Emotive Generate emotions<\/p>\n<p>5. Don&#8217;t worry, be crappy<br \/>\nVersion 1 of a technology means you never have to say sorry. We ship, then we test. Ship revolutionary stuff with elements of crap to it.<\/p>\n<p>6. Polarize People<br \/>\n&#8220;Toyota! For all the money you have why did you buy a car designer that was fired by Volvo?&#8221; (In regards to the Scion xB.)<\/p>\n<p>7. Let a hundred flowers blossom<br \/>\nCustomers you weren&#8217;t expecting buying your product in large quantities is not a problem. Go to the people who are buying your product and ask them &#8220;Why are you buying our product?&#8221; Then give them more reasons along those lines.<\/p>\n<p>8. Churn, baby, churn<\/p>\n<p>9. Niche thyself<br \/>\n(Chart with &#8220;Value to the customer&#8221; along the bottom and &#8220;Uniqueness&#8221; on the left.)<br \/>\nHigh value, not unique, compete on price<br \/>\nNo value, very unique, your stupid<br \/>\nNo value, not unique, dotcom<br \/>\nHigh value, high uniqueness, is target &#8211; Fandango is example<\/p>\n<p>10.
